Vancouver Island

From the formal Victoria end, to the rough and tumble West Coast at Tofino, and the rugged North End with its endless islands and bays, Brian’s vivid colors and rough textures are right at home on Vancouver Island. He has trudged through many forests working for logging companies, -“scaling timber” for a living.

Brian’s great interest is in the many rivers that pour from the Island; their banks fiercely holding onto enormous Douglas Fir trees. As a young boy he loved to fish the rivers and now he loves to walk them, studying the natural composition that has evolved along their banks.

A new series of work that he is developing is more abstract perhaps, based on the life and the rhythm of the Island Rivers.
