The Inspiration

A friend of mine, a Vancouver criminal lawyer, chose a version of the ” Manure Spreader” to hang on his office wall.

His clients include marijuana growers who cultivate on the wrong side of the wrong side of the law. Marijuana is is the biggest agricultural cash crop in British Columbia, so inevitably, my friend is kept busy trying to defend these guys.

The painting of the “Manure Spreader” saves this particular law firm a lot o f wasted time. If the conversation in the office strays too far from legal reality, the client is made aware of the “farm machinery” on the wall and its implications. Apparently, it helps to keep the discussion focused.

Manure spreaders like this one, and their modern counterparts, are very important on Vancouver Island since many of the farms have large dairy herds. Recycling waste from cattle is a big part of the farming operation. When that ” farm smell” is in the air you know this essential piece of farm machinery is at work!
