Maple sugar shack

30×40 inch acrylic on canvas. Since the maple leaf is on our national flag, maple sugar is important to our national culture. The sap is tapped from the maple tree by a slow process and the excess water is cooked away leaving a local source of sugar. This was important to early settlers as cane sugar comes for the tropical climate. Art is about emotion and I use the bright primary color red with yellow and blue in many of my paintings.
