Shay Coast Salish #4

The Coast Salish are a First Nations Band on Vancouver Island. Each of the 5 tribes stretching from Vancouver Island to Alaska have evolved different styles in the their Totem Poles. Since the crests represent the woman as they are matrilineal, meaning you crest comes from your mother, not you father as in our culture.
