Trout Stream, Muskoka – Acrylic on Canvas

I remember fishing for Eastern Brook Trout, the mosquitos and black flies were horrendous however OFF had just been invented. Trout were our favourite, they had beautiful spotted  colouring, so they could hide from predators you had to quietly approach each pool once they knew you were there they wouldn’t bite.  We drove across Canada in 1963 on the new transcanada highway many of the lakes and streams on the North Shore of Lake Superior had never been fished as they were inaccessable.   Fried in butter with lemon trout were gormette.
