Hornby
Brian’s history on Hornby Island started with camping on an empty lot on Whaling Station Bay in the 1960’s. Several properties, and some 40 years later, he is still there, albeit in a house with a roof!
The stories and legendary characters of Hornby are well known to him and are embodied in the compassion that his Hornby pictures display. Some of these pictures capture people who made massive contributions to the Island, but have now gone.
Years of painting gardens have made Brian an expert at painting gardens, and I know he does a great job of making my efforts look pretty good on LeaSmith Road. Hwever, I still think his favorites are the Arbutus trees with their crimson skin that ‘pop’ against the evergreen forest and rocks, especially when they are hanging off cliffs on unbelievable angles.
