Marine Link
Outdoor Art is a new interest for Brian, and one that is still developing. It has come from an interest in clients who are avid gardeners, and want a painted focal point in their gardens. Small city decks have been given a bright “spotlight” painting! Some items have been recycled from former lives, others newly created, but all have that ‘wow’ factor! Many of these pieces are in public spots as well, outdoor pubs and restaurants garden centers.
Brian is up for a challenge when it comes to painting “found” materials. His bird houses are always in heavy demand. Especially nuthatches, we found, love their vibrant little “condos”. These are just a few of the many, and varied things Brian has painted this past year. Depending on the size, some of these pieces are best picked up, as shipping can be very difficult.

Eagles at the Yacultas 30×40 inch acrylic on canvas Watching the action of the tide is crucial for Marine Link often links are made at night on the high tide, a large search light illuminates the passage. I remember being on the bridge at night with the captain. it takes years of experience before a seaman is trusted and promoted to Captain. While passing throught the narrow channel eagles were perched on the overhanging snags swooping down for pink salmon who were migrating.

Hamathko Glacier 30×40 inch acrylic on canvas The Hamathko at one time was chosen as a possible rail connection to the interior of BC The survey crew was wiped out by the local tribe who escaped to the interior and were never aprehended. Thats a testament to the rugged terrain. As a student at UBC I was timber cruiser with Nor’West Forestry. We cruised the old growth timber ahead of the logging companies. Royalties to the BC government paid for highways hospitals schools Many of the trees were so huge you could not get a diameter tape around the butt and had to guess the diameter. i remember the logging camp as we got to have the luxury of a bull cook and a bunk instead of a tent and coleman stove
